Engineering research areas.  His earlier research focused on the
structural performance and durability of building enclosure systems subjected
to severe windstorm, earthquake and accelerated weathering effects. His work
emphasized experimental structural engineering as applied to glass and aluminum
curtain wall systems for multi-story buildings.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">On the instructional side, Professor Behr developed and
implemented innovative teaching techniques for structural engineering and
engineering mechanics at the university level. His computer assisted,
small-scale, structural model mini-laboratory, "AN/EX," received
considerable interest from engineering educators and received sustained support
from the National Science Foundation.</span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">As a Senior Research Engineer at the Atlantic Richfield
Corporation, Dr. Behr organized, conducted and administered research projects
supporting the development of ice load structural design criteria for offshore
arctic drilling platforms. Prior to that, he played a principal role in
developing an earth-sheltered housing research program at Texas Tech
University.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Dr. Behr has published numerous papers in a variety of respected
engineering journals and has presented his work at major technical conferences
in the United States and abroad.  He has been awarded three patents.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Dr. Behr served as Head of the Department of Architectural
Engineering at Penn State University from 1997 – 2007, after which he was
appointed the Charles and Elinor Matts Professor of Architectural Engineering
and Director of the Penn State Smart Spaces Center <i>for successful aging in
place</i>.  He was named Dean of the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering
at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012.</span></span></div>

She has served as the Vice President of Student Development for the Institute of Industrial Engineers. In general, Environmental/Civil engineering internships ensure that interns get to learn the basics by doing and assisting senior engineers on real projects. The Department and the College of Engineering have determined that student placements with Employers are consistent with the goals and objectives of the curriculum and will enhance the program of study. A. Whitaker College of Engineering (WCE) at Florida GulfCoast University (FGCU)</a> gives academically talented students with demonstrated financial need the opportunity to augment their educational experience through enhanced academic mentoring and meaningful extracurricular activities tailored to their own requirements for professional development.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>In their first two years in the program, participants are provided with enriched academic support, cohort and programmatic activities, discipline specific mentoring, and additional opportunities to engage the engineering community within <a href="http://www.fgcu.edu/" target="_blank">FGCU</a> and the</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Southwest Florida region.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Programs designed to improve technical writing skills, resume building, and effective learning are offered to maximize each participant’s chances of success.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Within their last two year in the program, based on their career goals and aspirations, the program administrators (PAs) link each student with a mentor whose expertise is consistent with their chosen career path (post-graduate education, immediate entry into the work force or entrepreneurial endeavors).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Together with their mentor and the PAs, participants develop a student enhancement plan that encompasses a series of <span class="st"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely goals that fit their career development needs.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Progress is examined through end of the semester portfolio reviews with their PA, as well as regularly scheduled meetings with their mentor.</span></span></span></div>
