University Vu: E-Week

Once a year, the busy tone of Holmes Hall softens as the <a href="http://www.fgcu.edu/eng/" target="_blank"><b>U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering </b></a>students of all fields come together for a week of daily fun called E-week. It is an annual event hosted by the FGCU chapter of Florida Engineering Society.<br />
<b><span style="font-weight: normal;"></span></b><br />

This year, the festivities began on Monday with a catered breakfast from Einstein Bagel on the fourth floor lounge and balcony. Given that the space is usually reserved as a place for teachers to escape, allowing it to be open to all was a treat for the students and a great way to kick off the E-week tradition with food and a great view.<br />

<br />
On Day 2, the students got a chance to try their hand at the classic dunk tank game. Between classes, students gathered to try their hand at sinking willing participants in a large Dunk Tank. The icing on the cake, however, was that these ‘willing participants’ were in fact the beloved instructors and staff!!!<br />

On Day 3 there was a beauty pageant of sorts. Men and women engineers put on their best business attire and competed as couples.</span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-weight: normal;">On Day 4, there were various games set up outside on the lawn including bowling and a catapult game in which you were to aim at a target.</span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-weight: normal;">On Day 5 there was a Grand Finale.  This was a Tug-of-War comprised of faculty/staff vs. <a href="http://www.fgcu.edu/Eng/EnvCivDpt/1136.asp" target="_blank"><b>Environmental & Civil </b></a>engineering students.  The students won, of course!</span></b><br />
